On My Radar: Less is More

A few days ago I cleaned out my room. While attempting to fit all of my clothes in my small closet I realized it was time to clean it out. Over the years, I have accumulated far too many clothes, most of which I don’t wear. I’m really bad about holding onto clothes. I always think “oh I’ll wear it to something” or “I still like it so there’s no need to get rid of it”. This mindset has gotten me nowhere.

As I was cleaning I felt like I got rid of a good amount of clothes I no longer wear or need. However when I finished I felt like I had barely given anything away. I soon realized I will need to do this a few more times.

My goal is that by the time I move back into my dorm at school, I will have given away a good portion of clothes. Any tips for how you clean out your closet would be greatly appreciated!

Last week I crossed hiking a mountain off of both my summer bucket list and my 101 in 1001 list. Paige and I had been planning on doing this for some time now and decided to hike Mt. Monadnock located in New Hampshire.

I was under the impression that this would be an easier mountain to hike. We picked what we thought was going to be a beginner trail since neither of us had much experience hiking. Unfortunately the trail turned out to be extremely difficult. It also seemed to be never ending. We quickly found ourselves scaling rocks.

By the time we got to the top we were incredibly sweaty and tired. I celebrated reaching the summit by attempting a headstand. It was a tad windy and after nearly falling a few times I finally got it.

I’m incredibly proud of myself for completing the hike, however it was honestly one of the hardest things I have ever done. I can’t say for sure if I will every hike a mountain again, but I’m happy I did it.

Have you ever hiked a mountain before?

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

1. Don’t be so quick to judge a person when you don’t have any idea what they are going through.

2. Be aware of your surroundings.

3. Optimism never hurts.

4. Articulate how you feel even if it’s hard.

5.  Going for a walk helps to clear your head.

6. Hiking a mountain is NOT easy. (Full post coming soon!)

7. Patience is key.

Did anyone catch what’s wrong with my picture? The black bead is supposed to represent the lowest part of the earth and yet I’m at the top of the mountain. Oops!
